Executive coaching

When a strong performer hits a harder job

One-to-one coaching for senior and newly promoted leaders. We start by finding the real issue, then work on the challenges in front of them, week by week.

Sounds familiar?

Promoted for being brilliant at the job
Now they're leading a team twice the size, or a project with the whole board watching, and the old approach isn't enough.
Targets are slipping and nobody knows why
Everyone has a theory. Time management, delegation, attitude. Nobody has had the time to find out properly.
Too much on and no way to push back
Ten priorities, capacity for seven, and every stakeholder thinks theirs comes first.
No one to think out loud with
Senior roles get lonely. Sometimes a leader needs a sounding board outside the team and away from the board.
Why it works

The first symptom is rarely the real problem

We're often asked to coach someone on time management because they're missing targets. In the first session it turns out they manage their time well. They're carrying ten projects with room for seven, and they don't feel able to say so. The real work is prioritisation and the confidence to push back. That's why every programme starts with a diagnostic, not a syllabus.

How it works

1
Diagnostic session
A two-hour session to understand the role, the pressures and what's really going on. Where it helps, we include the line manager's view. Together we agree a plan and the topics to cover.
2
Coaching on live challenges
Two-hour sessions every two to three weeks. The plan gives structure, but if something bigger comes up that week, we work on that instead.
3
Apply it between sessions
Each session ends with something to try at work. The next one starts with what happened, what worked and what didn't.
4
Measure and report
Before and after ratings from the coachee and their line manager, a written summary after each session and a final report, with an optional debrief for the sponsor.
